Crystal Ridge Farm is located in scenic Roxbury, Connecticut, a
small town about one and a half hours north of New York City and one
hour south of Hartford. Crystal Ridge Farm is owned by Lorraine and Tom
O’Connell, who were originally involved with full-sized horses for many
years until miniatures drew their attention in 1989. The horses of
Crystal Ridge were chosen based on each one’s individual conformation,
along with the tendencies of their pedigrees to pass these fine
qualities to the next generation. Much research was done on the
bloodlines of the breed and how it produces type, color and
conformation. The O’Connells searched across the United States, and a
rigorous selection process led to the collection of some of the finest
miniatures available today.
The bloodlines of Crystal Ridge
include direct-line descendants of the great FWF Blue Boy, Rowdy,
Gold Melody Boy, Buckeroo, Lazy Ns Red Boy, Hemlock Brooks Egyptian
King,
FWF Blues Golden Comet, Bond Sir Galahad, Bond Bulldog, Bond
Commodore and Dell Teras Jim Dandy. The
stallions of Crystal Ridge are not over-bred so that the market value of
foals born at the farm is protected along with the market value of
customers' foals. "Quality," not Quantity, is the key to a successful
breeding program at Crystal Ridge. Our
successful breeding program has culminated in our horses winning
over 100 AMHA Top-Ten awards and over 10 AMHA WORLD
CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!
The
O’Connells pride themselves on helping first-time buyers choose the
right horse, whether they want a show horse or the foundation for a
special breeding program. Stallions
service, mare care, boarding, training, lessons and support for the
amateur owner are available from a qualified and caring staff.
